Why is it that pubs and clubs charge silly money for soft drinks if i want a pint of diet coke im paying 2.20 + the same price as an alcoholic one? Will this not entice people to drink alcohol more or go over the limit to drive??
Because they know that punters will pay it. Soft drinks are nearly 100% pure profit for clubs/pubs etc - it's a tiny amount of concentrate and water, so it's certainly not because it's expensive to them.
They also don't want to reduce their profit margins by having people economise with cheaper drinks. Your only cheap option is tap water.
I saw the writing on the wall when the pub
price for a pint of 'boys' beer went up to 2/-
ie. 10p. Thereafter I went into pubs very rarely.
The last visit was (I think) in 1983.
Your local supermarket sells drinks at a fraction
of pub prices. Give pubs a miss, and find a
local Lidl, or Aldi. Nobody needs pubs.
