british or american?
4 Answers
ive recently been watching a good number of gritty british films, and wow! i never realised how powerful they can be. so raw and real. dont get me wrong, american hollywood films are good, but these british ones ive been watching have a completeley different feeling in them, and some of them, honestly, scare the hell out of me!
so, i was wondering, who would you fear the most in a confrontation? a british gangster, or an american one?
ill be honest, british street gangs, let alone individually scare me half to death. i feel desensitised regarding american gangs. all the films, music and so on. but the british gangsters feel so raw, no guns, just brute force, usually in a gang ready to kick the living day lights out of you.
ive had run ins with british "thugs" before, and it aint nice! although im pleased none of them had a gun. this one guy said he did, but even as he makes me empty my pockets, im thinking "even if he did, he wont pull the trigger!" haha! concidering the cirumstances, i surprised myself! now, however, id think differently, especially since that poor kid got killed.

It is a bit like I am not afraid of snakes - mainly probably due to the fact that the chances of me running into a poisonous snake are remote.
I am not particularly afraid of gangs but then I live in a small town and we are around 30 years behind where most other towns are now.
I am not in any way shape or form scared of American gangs as I am not in America and don't plan to visit anytime soon.

well, yeah, thats true, why get scared of something youd never encounter. the way american gangs are portrayed they always scarred me more than british ones, but having watched so many gritty british urban films, ive changed my mind! btw, football factory was a quality film, inc outlaw and severance!
dannyday5821: say, if you don't mind me asking, would you share w/me some of these, 'gritty Brit films' as you put it? I am mad for British film, comedy ect, but can't easily find them here unless I have a title, or someon put me onto one I can order...(I lived in Cardiff for over a yr and a half, and am back in the US..miss the UK very very much!!)
Anyway, thanks for the help. As for your question: for my two cents I'd fear nearly anyone w/a gun or knife... I keep pepper spray handy(& pray for a good aim)!!
