the queen...

okay, i might get assasinated by MI5 or some secret government organisation (and for their refence, im not thinking about it!) but i was wondering, what would actually happen if someone assassinated the queen?
would security change?
would it matter who killed her? i.e. Immigrant or terrorist? would people care? stupid question i know, but lets face it, as far as im concerned, she serves no purpose to this country.
How would it effect the UK as a whole?
How would America react?
What would the likley result be if it was a terrorist attack? What if it was a russian spy for example?
ill stop now, too many questions! but what do guys think seriously?

Our gov rules this country, queeny is just a traditional icon. She does have to agree to things that Gov pass, but in reality terms, we'll just have a load of morners and a state funeral... oh and a big murder investigation!
An attack on the Queen would be seen as an attack on our country.
I think public mourning would be on the same scale as was for Diana, because although the Queen is regarded in a completely different way to Diana, it would be an undeniably deliberate killing, and that's what would hit people the most.
Likewise, although 9/11 and a hypothetical assassination of the Queen are incomparable (many deaths instead of just one), I think national and international shock and outrage would be of a similar kind.
If a recognisable group, whether religious, national or otherwise, was responsible (or even suspected as being responsible), I think there would be reprisals (especially if members of that group were in the UK).
Anyway, what on earth made you think of asking this question?

well Danny, I think they'd solve the crime pretty quick. they'd just look on here, see your question and hey presto!
In all seriousness, I think it would be a great tragedy, she's a nice lady, looks good on stamps and coins etc., but to be honest, what is the chance of anyone getting that close to her again?
