Question on Humour - Quite Likely to cause Offence

Hi All,

We've had a few conversations about humour recently and how subjective it is and how we decide what should be censored.

I saw something today which I admit made me snigger but is in the worst possible taste (I'll put it in the thread). However I consider myself to be a very good and fair minded person.

So I guess my question is do you think that your sense of humour says something about you as a person? Do you think it's possible to be a good person and be able to snigger at my link? Is it too early in the story for this kind of humour? Where do you draw the line in things you laugh at? Do you think you can actually draw a line or sometimes do you just laugh first and then think you shouldn't have done?

Yes, it was funny, if very naughty. Knowing it's naughty makes it funny if you don't take it too seriously.

But sometimes humour reflects one's present state of mind. I was once disgusted at a joke about death, shortly after the bereavement of a friend. Normally I wouldn't have been so offended or disgusted. It was just the circumstances.

Also, if the joke situation doesn't relate to you personally, it's easier to laugh.

I think we do laugh at some things that are funny but not necessarily PC or tasteful, they are still funny, like I laughed at the muslim woman who shopping for a Burka, came out of the changing room and asked "Does my bomb look big in this?" but I didn't have the courage to post it in the jokes section.

China Doll - yes, you can be a good-ish person. I'm not a bad guy myself but certainly a flawed angel :-)

curiosity, heard the joke before, but I don't think its offensive.
You should have posted it, in the relevant section, thus giving the PC brigade, myself included, the chance to call you a right wing racist!
Some of the grimmest situations, often throw up, some of the funniest moments and the whole thing becomes an irony in itself.
If we can't laugh, at the absurdity of it all, then I think we will all go mad.
