Sheeple - Are You?
29 Answers
"Sheeple," the word to describe people who follow fashion, trends, thinking, political correctness etc, or indeed anything that requires simple 'following,' rather than going against the flow and 'doing their own thing.'
So, do you have any thoughts on this?

But as you get older you mature and realise that life holds more than materialistic gains. I certainly am not a sheeple much to my daughters horror, i wear and do what i want. I'm happy with who i am.
Well, I live in a house with other people, drive a car and have a job. I buy and wear western clothes designed for women. I am a member of one of the 3 main political parties and I access my news from the radio, tv, and internet newspapers.
So pretty conventional, so I guess I must be a sheep.
Being a hermit, wearing sackcloth and ashes, committing crimes whilst taking babel, just to be different and stand out from the crowd, sounds too much like effort and hard work.

What I had in mind was the mentality that prevents people from being true to their own beliefs, such as the dissatisfaction with the notion that multiculturalism was working.
Nod nod, yes it is, nod nod. Then along comes Trevor Philips, (good job he is black), and says, no it isn't, then the sheeple jump on the bandwagon and say they thought that all along.
That's just one example.

Well I'd say I'm pretty much your bog standard average female although admittedly I've been told by many people that I'm something of a one off but I'm sure they were just being nice... or not possibly.
Anyway, I have my own thoughts on things, sometimes they coincide with others, sometimes they don't. I wouldn't say there was anything particularly unique in my thoughts, I'm sure others have had similar thoughts to me.
Besides, there's enough induhviduals out there. I'm happy just being me.

Why am I reminded of "Life of Brian" ?
Brian: "You're all different"
Multitude (drones in unison): "We're all different"
Little voice from corner: "I'm not"
Since when has been being "true to your beliefs been such a virtue?"
I can just see Hitler turning to Eva Braun in the bunker and saying "at least I was true to my beliefs".
It rather depends on what your beliefs are doesn't it?

jack - No, I don't think a lot of people are true to their own beliefs. Maybe it's part of the human condition.
How many actually stand up and speak out for what they believe in.
Ever been to a union meeting where there was a, "show of hands?"
Some people throw their hands up immediately, or keep them down, according to how they want to vote. Others have their hand halfway up whilst looking around to see what everybody else is doing. Sheeple.
The same attitudes are displayed with political correctness. Don't you think?

Not really Theland.
It depends on your situation and what you think. I'm generally known for being part of the PC brigade on here I would guess but it ain't always so...

If you're too scared to stand up and say what you think because I or someone else may disagree with you then I'm probably not all that interested in your opinion as you obviously don't feel very strongly about it.
Take your religion, it's no secret that we disagree on it entirely but what you believe in is your own personal choice. However I may challenge your beliefs or you opinions in a debate about religion as you may indeed ask me to account for mine. That's fine and healthy. I like doing that. I have my opinion not because it's trendy but because I genuinely do not believe in God. I think it's only the mega rich and celebrities that have religions as trends.

China - People following like sheep has prevented multiculturalism from being properly debated, and how many politicians have sidestepped questions on immigration for fear of being branded racist?
The same problem arises when attempting to talk about muslim terrorism, as the same racist label is always threatened.
I think that in their hearts, many people feel almost the opposite to what they say on these issues, and wait for a lead from somebody else.
