I have recently been trying to do my family tree.
I knew i had some half brothers and sisters that my father had before he meet my mum. Cutting a very long story short, I had a phone call last night from my half sister and i found out some very harrowing stuff about my bilogical father which i already had some inklings that he might of done in the past, to put it bluntly he abused my half sister. I lost contact with my Dad when i was 4 and didnt find him again till 20 years later, so all this went on when i wasn't around. I was abused myself by my step father and always had this fantasy that my real dad would come a recuse me!
Now my half sister never told anyone till she was 24 and has never been to the police etc., she is now 40 and i am thinking she should go to the police, i feel why should my father get away with this, after all these years and think it was ok.
What my question really is, although this happened years ago do you think its too late to go to the police or in your opinion should justice be done?

I was abused by an older brother for several years when I was very young and have never reported it to the police,I have my reasons for this and would be furious if anyone reported it on my behalf,in fact I would refuse to speak to the police about it.
DAFFY i am not sticky my nose in and i would never report it for her, i am simply asking if it woudl be too late if SHE wanted to, she hasn't spoken fully to someone about it apart from me, so please dont assume i am stricking my nose in it. I know exaclt how she feels as hen i was 12 i had no choice as my mum reported it and it was a scary thing to go through all the interigations questions being fired at me.
and 4gs he does not have any contact with her so there is no chance of that, and he has no contact with me neither, however his wife has a daughter who has a teenage daughter!

to be frank hwo is 70 now and dont think he would be capable of doing it as he is quite decrepid and sits in chair all day, he has loads of health problems - he deserves it, but even though i dont think he can do it to anyone now, i still dont think its right that he has got away with it so to speak.
When I was about 13, my best mate confided in me that his father would climb into bed with his older sister who was aged 14 and touch her. He made me promise not to tell anyone, and until today I never have, however, it haunts me to this day that I didn't say anything as he was recently arrested (he's now in his late 70's) and is now in prison for abusing his grand children.
god i honeslty do know what your saying and that is terrible.
I would want so much for him to be arrested and tried for it.
My step dad was taken to court and he 'got away with it' as of insufficent evidence as it was my word against his. to this day now it also haunts me that he could be doing it to someone else.
My half sister was saying last night how much she wants to confront him, she feels so strongly about it, even to the point she is scared what she could do to him!

If she does report it the CPS may even decline to prosecute because of his age and infirmity. She will have to put herself through the ordeal of the interview and have to remember details from many years ago that are maybe not as clear(hopefully) as they used to be.You have to weigh up the pros and cons of this situation as it is never easy.
The place to confront him is from the witness box and see him punished for his evil crimes, she needs 'closure' on this as much as you do for what you were subjected too by your step dad.
I'll bet if she reports him there will be others who will speak out against him, it takes only one brave person to start proceedings for others to follow.
