C of E School - "Brainwashing"
24 Answers
On a placement in my old C of E School, I overheard a conversation (I was in the staffroom - they knew I was there!!) between a Science teacher and an assistant - the teacher basically saying the children where kind of brainwashed into thinking God (directly) does everything! (They were talking about electricity - the teacher had asked "what is making the bulb light up?" or something, and had had more than one anwer of "God!")
I myself am a Christian, but I don't remember thinking God made light bulbs glow!
...It's not brainwashing is it?
It's a great school - but what do you think?

But in any debate on religion/God/I.D. this question must be addressed surely?
And then there is evolution, which is a faith also, unless you have a Phd in fossilised amoebas, and then by some complicated convoluted argument, convince yourself it is true.
How long does it take to explain a proo of evolution to the average teenager? If it's more than half an hour, then there's something wrong.
We, the 'great unwashed,' need a proof in laymans terms that is easily understood, for it to be true. Otherwise, the scientist becomes the high priest of his own religion.

Dear me whiffey, you need a strong injection of reason and knowledge. Very briefly:
It is not for rational people to disprove the existence of God, any more than it is their job to disprove the existence of Santa Claus, fairies and magic carpets. Have you not heard of Russell's teapot? It is for those who moot weird things to prove their case, or at least offer a smidgeon of evidence that science can work on.
Neither the human race nor any other animals and plants appeared by chance and no sensible person has ever claimed it. I suggest you read up on the basics of evolution.
Science does not rely on faith; it works by seeking out evidence and reasoning from it. Yes, there are things that science cannot answer: its attitude is "But we're working on it."
Miracles are unscientific by definition. Perhaps you don't know what a miracle is.
