I've know people to say they are British and some say they are English. What's the difference?

Britain is England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland, so anone frome any of these countries is British,
Used to be, Eng/Brit etc, but this Goverment has done away with those nation states, and we are all just British, or as they tell us, European.
No such thing as being English, Scottish, Welsh, N.Irish, although tell that to the people from those countries.
