The most boring conversation - ever
38 Answers
I have just listened to a collegue for the last half hour telling me what her kids did this weekend.
Is there anything more boring than hearing about other people's kids?

Sorry....rant over.

I think holiday snaps too... just give me the pack if you want me to look and don't explain the 'funny story' behind every one.
Also those conversations us ladies are famours for having where every move a guy makes is analysed. How do apparently inteligent females make a five minute conversation turn in to a two hour conversation about body language and what he's really saying.

I hate holiday photos and my best mate takes a lot of holiday pics and tells a story about each one, the stories are never funny because she doesn't understand the conecpt of a punchline.Although, I thought it was highly amusing that when her husband was out for a swim and she was reading abook and looked up and could see there were 2 sharks fins within reasonable distance of him, her first instinct was to get the camera out.
The girl next to me spent over 20mins this morning telling me about the type of food her dog likes, and that she went to a new pet shop over the weekend (Incidentally you're allowed to take pets with you but they decided against it because X is a big dog and they didn't want him to scare children, even though he is police trained, other dogs seem to want to start fights with him). They only bought him a small bag of food to try in the end in case he doesn't like it, as a 2kg bag would have been a waste if they got it home and he turned his nose up.
Currently, she is yakking on about what her sister (who is over100 miles away from us) is cooking, and that she is freexing it so that she can reheat it at the weekend to save having to cook then.
I would say that holiday snaps are up there though.

We used to have friend in England who would sometimes drive up for a visit. Out of politeness we would say 'How was your journey?' and he would tell us ...!
' It was fairly steady until junction 25 when I hit a tailback caused by an earlier accident. That slowed me down to 40 mph for about 20 minutes then I stopped for a cup of coffee and had a scone, or was it a crumpet? Really nice place but I've had better coffee. Once I reached Carlisle, The rain started to get heavier......'
Are you all asleep yet?
Once he found God and started sending us daily prayer e-mails - that was it. We had to move house and assume new identities.

LOL at all the answers thus far -
I think it's down to the ability of people to converse - i.e. interact in a meaningful way.
Talking about your kids is fine - if it's a conversation with like-minded people, and there is a bit of verbal give and take, discusssing common ground and so on.
But as these answers demonstatre, some people cannot converse, so they monologue, and that is what is boring. their diatribe doesn;t require any input what ever from the listener, it sometimes doesn't appear even to need the courtesy of attention - the monologuer never takes the time to see if their audience is interested or not, it's not necessary.
So, the subject doesn;t mater, if's the way it is either discussed, or simply aimed at you like a verbal firehose!
So, about my wekend. I started cleaning the bathroom ....(door closes quietly - again!)

I once went into a bus shelter full of old age pensioners and asked one of them for the time of a certain local bus. This sparked off a conversation among the old folk about different times of local bus services, how they have recently changed, etc. After 15 minutes I had to make an excuse to leave.
I decided just to walk.
