Gun and Knife Crime - breakdown by race
Does anyone know where I can find a breakdown of Knife and Gun crime by region and within that by race/ethnic origin.
It's just that watching the trailers for the new TV publicity against these crimes, the young participants appear to be overwhelmingly white. Not being perjorative, I had believed as a simple fact that the overwhelming majority of knife and gun crime was perpetrated by BME (Black and Minority Ethnic), against other BME.
I'd love to see some figures.

You could try the following link:

Not sure whether there's any stats down to the granularity you're looking for because I don't have a pdf reader on my laptop.
Happy hunting.

Now here's the problem...
If the government produced a series of ads which only featured black kids, the vast majority of the nation would ignore it because (as we've seen here on AB) many people would think "That's nothing to do with me".
The Home Office back in '88 had a similar conundrum...should pamphlets about AIDS/HIV be directed just to the gay community, or to everyone?
They made the right decision. We saw the lowest spread of the disease in Europe.
However I can't comment on this latest campaign as I've not seen it yet. But rest assured, there are plenty of community-based campaigns in London which reflect the racial make-up of the most vulnerable communities in question.

Thank you sp1814, I have looked at that link and sense eggshells underfoot all over it.
I suppose it doesn't really matter who is doing the stabbing and who is being stabbed as long as the racial angle (if any) is glossed over or denied.
I'll have to conclude that all non-BME stabbings in my area are simply not being reported.

not so newsdesk, there sre so many cultures in the uk now that have a knife carrying ethos and that is where the problem stems from they find it acceptable to carry and indeed use knives and guns.....let them stab and shoot away at each other i say eventually they will eradicate themselves from our civilised society.........

Probably because of paragraph 5
In 2004-05, there were 78 fatal shootings in England and Wales. Of these, 40 of the victims were white, 25 black, seven Asian. The figures do not record the ethnicity of the killers but, by and large, murderers tend mostly to target members of their own ethnic group.
So the majority of the killers would have been which colour then based on that?
Picking your evidence to suit your argument is an easy trick - two can play at that game
