If you live in a care home you do not get the winter fuel allowance, but if you are paying for care yourself i.e. no help from the council where you live are you entitled to this money?

If you live in a care home you can only get the winter fuel allowance if you don't get pension credit, regardless of who pay the fees.

Thanks Ethel Now this brings me to another point. If you have your pension paid in this country but have actually moved to Spain or some other WARM country are you still entitled to have this money.
Yes you are, but only if you were claiming it before you moved abroad and you have moved to a country within the EU.

If you move outside the EU you don't get the winter fuel allowance or the annual rise in your state pension.
