me again :)

Nope don't live there but close and know it well, it is a lovely area though, very low crime rate, it's a riverside town with a lot of recent development on the waterfront. not a great range of shops but your only a few minutes drive from colchetster, though the traffic around that end of colchester can be a nightmare at times.

As you have said before that you are moving to the area due to work in clacton then tavel to clacton from there is ideal, however I seem to recall one of you was thinking of working in braintree, that would be a nightmare journey!
I'm fully in agreement with everything CF has said.

My only concern about Wivenhoe might be the risk of flooding in some areas. A flood barrier was installed about 15 years ago, and seems to be doing its job, but changing weather patterns might result in a return to former days, when parts of Wivenhoe flooded quite often:

Although the risk of flooding from the river is now much reduced, floods from surface water can still occur in some areas:

Used to live there myself , it's grown a lot in recent years but the river front is nice . Rather lacking in things to do unless you like pubs.

Thank you for your answers. How long do you think the drive from Braintree to Wivenhoe is?
-- answer removed --
Depends largely on traffic and what route you take to avoid the traffic.

on a clear run about 40min. with traffic about an hour by using routes that avoid going through Colchester
lovablemrkno, if you think Wivenhoe is an amusing name you'd die with laughter at the village the other side of Colchester called Fingringhoe

How about Ar$eford & Buttlingsea further down the river ?
