In the early 1980s I was given an ivory ornament and an ivory bracelet by a friend who was living in Africa at the time. I would love to get rid of them but don't know how I can do this legally. I don't think I can sell them as I assume they are modern, but is there a charity that would take them? -maybe a conservation charity or one that helps elephants? Any suggestions please?

Why don't you just put it in the next charity bag that comes through your door and put it outside for them? They don't know where things came from by the time they get all the bags back to the shop.

If I did that, then they would be lumbered with it as they would not be able to sell it!
