Providing short-term housing to Refugees

Are there any secular groups helping to bring over refugees? I would like to open my home for a week or so at a time to help new refugees transition and maybe help participate in their transition.

The only ones that I can find are either really far away or religion-based. Neither are my preference. I live in Los Angeles County, California, USA.

Hi jessi,

I know Lutheran Social services is very active in placing the LOST BOYS of Africa. Lutherans are not so pushy with the religion as some of the others. ( I am Lutheran) They do great work and it might be less red tape tahn going through a gov't agency. (I am in NY)
