No I never havem usually they are on benefits and so i have already contributed my share.
No, I don't give money to beggars.

We have had a few in our town & all they seemed to do, was to go straight to the nearest supermarket & stock up with their wine or cider. They would then go & sit in the Church gardens, near the War Memorial, drinking & annoying the general public.

I give to several well deserved charities, but not to beggars.
P.S. There were so many complaints, including mine, so the local police have now banned them from within a 5 mile radius of the town. Good job too!
morning legend , about 6 years back standing at a bar off deansgate station in manchester one came in and placed a pile of coins on the bar. he counted them out and handed them over to the barman.the barman gave him 65. when i ordered my next pint i remarked what a good day he must have had. the barman laughed and said that he had had a bad day if he had only got 65. he usually has around the 100 mark to exchange into notes.
since then i have never given anything

What does the money go on the other half of the time i wonder ?
alcohol
do you have beggars on the reef
I used to give to Big Issue sellers - about a quid or so. Until the day one of them took my quid, held his other hand out and said "it's gone up - it's 2 quid now".

Haven't given to them since.
I always buy a Big Issue from the same bloke in town, because I think this is a genuine cause. But I never give to beggars.

So beggars only buy drugs and alcohol ?

Thats a bit of a generalisation isnt it?

Trigger youve worked with the homeless you say.
Are they all druggies and alkies then ?

Seems really sad if they are.

BUT - I do give money to some buskers - at least they're doing something to earn it. Also, some of them are students.

Theres a family of professional beggars here.Romanians.
I used to give cash until told by locals that the whole family do it 7 days , i also found it strange the daughter , in her early 20s , wearing a t shirt saying " you wanna take me out for dinner ? " t shirt on .

Very surreal.
legend could you sit and beg on a street on a rainy cold day, you need drugs or booze to keep warm.
I do think the particular Big Issue seller I encountered was trying it on, and probably not so genuine - but it did put me off continuing to give.
The cost of the Big Issue has gone up. The seller only gets a percentage. If you want to give more you can do.....I usually do, I'm not saying how much more....but it all helps.
