We have had a few in our town & all they seemed to do, was to go straight to the nearest supermarket & stock up with their wine or cider. They would then go & sit in the Church gardens, near the War Memorial, drinking & annoying the general public.
I give to several well deserved charities, but not to beggars.

morning legend , about 6 years back standing at a bar off deansgate station in manchester one came in and placed a pile of coins on the bar. he counted them out and handed them over to the barman.the barman gave him 65. when i ordered my next pint i remarked what a good day he must have had. the barman laughed and said that he had had a bad day if he had only got 65. he usually has around the 100 mark to exchange into notes.
since then i have never given anything
