wearing a poppy conventions?
8 Answers
When wearing a poppy for rememberance day, is it correct to have the green leaf pointing up or down. I notice on the BBC that allt he presenters have the leaf pointing up, but I have mine pointing down to cover the stem.
Is there a right/ wrong way?
Thanks

I don't think it really matters how you wear it, as long as it's on show for the support & in remembrance of the brave deserving people.

There's no need to cover the stem. When wearing a flower as a ''buttonhole'' it's a sign of good taste to have it pinned to the lapel, and not pushed through the actual buttonhole. With real flowers, the stem would normally be wrapped in foil to stop any moisture from staining the jacket, but this wrapping would still be showing.
