Would anyone appreciate old text books, such as Oxfam etc. I have no idea how to ged rid of them - they are large and about Micro-biology etc. etc. I don't really think charity shops would want them. I am loathe to just throw them away.

If they are fairly up to date try putting an advert for them in your local university, college or school. If you are giving them away there are sure to be takers.
You could also try selling them on Amazon - it's a very eay system
Or put them on your local Freecycle. Such a great idea, gets rid of your clutter and helps somebody else

Unless they are very old, you could ask at your nearest university if there is a board, maybe in the students union, where you could put up a postcard to advertise them.

Failing which, try Freecycle.
why wouldn`t the charity shop want them.students do vist the shops.its very p.c but schools colleges or university are not allowed to except second hand donations.the reasons im unsure about.
