I have the job of disposing of a couple of fur coats. It's not as easy as just handing them in to a charity shop because of the monetary value still linked to them by the owner. I feel I have to try to find a useful destination for them even if they are relatively valueless in the UK. That way the monetary value could be overlooked if they were helping someone. Any ideas?

Flog them on Ebay. Why do you think they are valueless in the UK? People still wear fur.

By handing them in to a charity shop you are helping someone, so the monetary value could be overlooked.

If you're looking to sell them, eBay is the best, as already stated, unless it is the fur of an endangered species, which is prohibited by eBay rules

Do charity shops accapt fur?

I worked in one for a while and I seem to remember they didn't. They would just put them in the pile for the rag man.

Find someone handy with a sewing machine and make them into hats and hand muffs or something for the old folks for the wimter.

Think it can be respiratorily dangerous to cut & sew old fur. Think they need to go to old people up at the top of the globe.

I had a similar dilemma with my old ma's mink, and I remember exactly the huge amount pa spent on it in 1968. I hung on to it for years and in the end put it in the clothes recycling skip at my local tip, so it could resume its karmic journey.
