MV Agusta F4 1000cc
9 Answers
I have lusted after one of these works of art for years and last weekend collected my new (new to me - it is an 04 plate) pride and joy.
I've been playing with it for the past week and.......................................................it isn't very good!
My old 998 was significantly better.
So, anybody ever lusted after anything for so long and when they finally got it it was a huge disappointment?

Surely you have read reviews, all the italian bikes are sh1te, yes they have "character" and are drop dead gorgious to look at but functionally? forget it, a good R1 is what you need!
Dukes are ***** as it is and sound like a bag of spanners but the MV is even worse! Don't even get me started on Bimotas and Benellis!
It's the old thing, never meet your heroes, they usuall dissapoint, ask James May when he drove a Countach!
and before anyone moans this is bl00dy culture ok?!

My old 998 sounded fantastic, much better than any Jap machine, and in 5 years never once gave me a problem.
Granted I've never ridden an R1 but I have had a Blade and a Gixer and they weren't even in the same league as the 998.
The F4 is a thing of beauty, but, alas, will be on eBay before the end of the weekend and I will be going back to a Ducati.

I absolutely adored a pair of Red or Dead shoes that I could never get my hands on until I randomly spotted a brand new pair on ebay never worn. I watched and waited and made a bid at the last minute and won. They turned up a few days later looking wonderful and I popped them on with the jeans and top (especially brlought to go with said shoes) and stood up delighted and went to show my then boyfriend... And then it became evident that I couldn't walk in them at all! (Not the highest shoes I own but just not well made).
Possibly not quite on the same levels as yourself but I was quite disappointed.

i was eyeing up a lovely looking black one on ebay the other day and was sorely tempted. i now have held back after seeing your timely post. they are fantastic looking and i would like one but not as an ornament to sit looking pretty.
chris barrie was singing its praises on his massive engines programme the other week.
