This circus are in the area ( come every year ) and we're thinking to take the cubs down to see them......i certainly remember circus animals when i was smaller.....
What's your opinion on it?
Do you think it is cruel to have animals in a circus or do you think they are well cared for and live a good life there?.

The last circus I saw, came to Romford a few years ago, I think it may have been called Zippo - it was bloody funny - when the girl had finished performing on the high wire, she then run to serve drinks in the interval - in fact every performer in the circus had another job i.e. collecting the tickets, serving ice creams and so on. My friend laughed so much she fell down the back of those horrible wooden tier seats you sit on and it took 5 of us to lift her out.
The kids with us thought that was more funny than the circus.
This circus did'nt have wild animals - I think if they did, they too would have been serving ices in the interval !!!!!!!!!!

I think it's a disgusting outdated practice, something akin to bear baiting.
How anyone can take pleasure from seeing animals do totally unatural acts in order to give morons their jollies is beyond me.
Sorry Yogi, but my estimation of you has gone way down, why you'd throw money at these barbaric practices, and encourage your children to view it as natural and or funny is unbelievable.

Hi Den xxx Vibes and Shutz
Some great and valid comments, guys, and i would have to agree with you, to a degree,..................you just DONT know how these animals are treated in these kind of surroundings....
It was on the local news this morning that the Circus is in the area and that the animals ARE treated well as they have experts come in daily to check on them and make sure they are all cared for..........
just cant stop thinking that they should be out there wild and free, but SAME applies to zoos....and i take my cubs there to see the animals......as surely you must have.........
so is'nt that really the same predicament?
It's a hard one......but i do agree with Schutz....it should probably be phased out and just have the frightening and unfunny clowns instead!

Hi Yogi. It's not really the same predicament. At Chester Zoo and many other large zoos, but particularly Chester, the animals are provided with as near natural environment to live in as possible. The success and well being of the animals is evidenced by the tremendous success of the breeding programme, whereby endangered animals are then returned to the wild to sustain the wild population. Only if the animals have a relative amount of freedom, care, and certain amount of privacy, will the animals breed and produce strong, healthy offspring suitable for relocation and survival in the wild. This is working very well indeed at Chester.
Went to the circus while on holiday in France - it was one of those small family travelling jobs. They had miniture horses and dogs and snakes and giant lizards and things, and most of me thought that it was cruel and very un-pc to have them there, but a small part of me thought it was really entertaining in a cringy kind of way.
The kids loved it and still talk about it.

I went to the Spirit of the Horse show, and it was marvellous. The animals were very well looked after (you could visit the stabling area after the show) and as anyone who has horses knows, you cannot get them to do something they don't like.
I have no problem with circuses having animals and I personally would not go to one without, as I find acrobats and things like that buttock clenching and spend all my time wishing they would fall.
