Midwives and the Delivery

Once upon a time, the delivery was at the behest of nature, but unfortunately was almost always in the middle of the night and invariably with some "needlework" to be done to the perineum, but now, the medical profession has "wised up" and labour is "encouraged" rather by drugs or C-Section�..and about time too.

Husbands should be bared from the delivery room as at best they serve no purpose and at worst, they get in the way. Women have been having babies for millions of years and there is nothing you can do to stop the delivery of the neonate after the onset of labour and apparently the father has to say, on seeing mother and child for the first time�."Darling he/she is beautiful, how clever of you." The neonate is invariably ugly with a flattened and spattered nose across it's" face and the "clever" thing would have been to avoid the delivery at all once labour had started.

Midwives? Invariably Sarah Gamps, fat, fertile, fourty irascible and a law unto themselves��..no male or very few, male midwives���no sexual discrimination there then eh/ unless the delivery is complicated in which a male obstetrician will surfice����..forget sexism then.

"Embarrassing showing my "bits" to a male doctor" one often hears ���well most of the women I have met have shown their "bits at the drop of a hat���.well the drop of something else anyway LOL

Obstetics and Midwifery?���.hated it.

If having daddy to be in there helps the future mum, I don't see what harm having him there does?

And quite frankly, if i'm going through agony, so's he, I made sure he was fully aware of what his two minutes (includes post coital ciggy) of pleasure has put me through ;-)

I never got a look in with the gas & air when I delivered my son - my first husband was too busy sniffing it himself & wouldn't hand it over. Something damaged his brain... must have been that. Selfish git.

I think midwives are brilliant. :-)
