How do I find out if someone has died?

Does anyone have any information on Scott (Thomson)Campbell. Born in August 1963, He lived in Easter Drylaw Bank Edinburgh With His Mum Mary. He was the second youngest of 6 kids - Alec, Lorraine?, John, Brenda and Tracy. I was told he moved to England after 1990, however I have no other details of his whereabouts but i have been told he died 6-8 years ago. I have no contact with any of his side of the family and would really like to know some more about my dad. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. thanks

but the age doesn't tie up.

I appreciate that this is a bit vague,but it is the ONLY Scott Campbell death in the period 1990~2006,in the Edinburgh section

thanks very much for your help. Do you know if it makes a difference that he may have died in England although he was definitely born in Edinburgh. Did you happen to come accross a birth for my dad in 1963, mother is Mary and Father is Alec?

I don't have access to English records,but I am sure someone on AB will.
If you were to join Ancestry.com or FindMyPast.com you may be able to see if he died in England.

I have checked on the genealogist website and 6 Scott Campbells died in England between 1984-2005. However, none of them had a birth date of 1963.

which is the Official Website of Scotlands Register Office.
It cost nothing to search,but you will have to pay some credits to view the Info.
However,if you just want this Birth Certificate then the details you need (if you write/ring) the register office are:~

Campbell Scott Thomson born 1963 Haymarket~Edinburgh.

I did come across the death of a 44 year old Scott Campbell in England,but it described him as Glaswegian.
This is a picture from the newspaper article.I don't know if you would recognise your Dad?
This guy lived in Bolton,and was 44 in January of this year.
Going by your dates,I don't think it is him,but I have posted the pic just in case the newspapers (age) dates are wrong.

If he died in England then the death would be registered in England (and not Scotland).
