anyone watch it ?
any thoughts either way ?
i am not talking about the acting or the script (or gary glitter or his crimes so please don't bombard me with that), just the concept behind the 'drama' and its hypothesis.

i was just wondering about the potential reality of a reintroduction of the death sentence in the uk, by hanging in this drama. apparently according tothat programme 54% of british adults want it. i think if yoi are against dp, the programme worked well enough to test your sympathies. should it be reintriduced, did someone committting those crimes deserve it, would we condone the reality of executions etc etc.
as you say wizard66, fascinating. obvioulsy more interesting with it being paul gadd in the dock, but still pause for thought.

I thought the subject matter was difficult to sympathise with.
For all the hyperbole the death penalty can produce, child molesters get the most muted arguments against.
I felt Sean Mercer would have been a more worthy muse.
He's a feckless inadequate cowadrly thug of limited education (his choice), he's typical of thousands of others today, he's really quite young, he could argue that he did not mean to kill or harm Rhys, he could argue that he fired the weapon to intimidate or annoy someone else.
He would be far more representitive of the type of case were the death penalty would prove contentious.

in reverse yes.
but i was viewing fom the perspective of someone who is absolutely against it, and for me i was thinking that people who do this to children probably deserve it, but deep down my sentiments rejected the horror of hanging and suchlike being reintriduced into the uk. so it was probably more challenging to my sympathies than to a cap-pun supporter, probably served to strenghten their view.

I thought it was interesting years ago I was all for the death penalty and changed my mind after watching a documentary where a guy in USA was put to death and they found out later that he was innocent - that is when I changed my mind to being against the death penalty.
I think for a multiple killer ie Fred West and other serial killers it should be bought back but lethal injection to me seems more humane than hanging.
Serial sex offenders should be castrated in my view. I agree with earlier comments that it was interesting and it is good to have a programme that makes you think
