Do we really want yet another minority group in our Police Service?
If they are successful in forming this transgender group will their next demand be for a specially designed uniform to address their sexuality?

You do love to create you own misery don't you AOG?
Why is everything what next? why do you like thinking about how 'worse' it can get?
That has to be the saddest thing i have ever heard!
The only time you seem happy on this site is when one of our heros shoots someone! Or someone has a rant that you agree with or a muslim gets brought to justice!

Don't get out much, do you?
It's called controversial posting, it's what makes this site so interesting, if everyone agreed with everyone, or that only none controversial postings were entered, this site would be most boring.
It is left entirety to the individual either to enter into debate or to refrain from doing so.

Why not - the police should reflect the community and there are growing numbers of people who are transgender or who cross dress and the reported abuse, discrimination and victimisation faced by such people is high and getting higher - both within employment and in the community.
There are no amounts/costings mentioned in the article and if the amount is not much, and the support group keeps just one trained and capable police officer at work, rather than off work with stress or something, then it will have paid for itself.
Steve.5 - why peverts?

I should have guessed the taxpayers alliance would be involved in here somewhere.
They've obviously missed the story on our national sexual attitudes becoming more liberal
Is it just me that pictures them like this:

Loved this bit....
"But yesterday the association, which has about 100 members, declared it was “launching itself on the world” in March "....they'll make a big impact eh?
I for one don't have an objection to them being a plod whilst being a transexual, afterall it shouldn't make a difference to their actual policing should it? Unless Fred decides to stop mid chase of a villian to apply his lippy of course ;-)
However I do object to public money being used for it- afterall, shove like minded folk together in a room and voila..you have a group, I fail to see how it could cost money!
