There's no law that says you *HAVE* to answer the door...
Keep a piece of paper handy by the door, with a load of questions on it. When they knock on the door say "I'm really glad you've come, I have a load of questions I want to ask about you and your party, and wave your piece of paper about, saying this won't take too long, there's only about 25 of them....... start reading the first one out loud and very slowly.............and watch them flee!
LOL @ Androcles!!!
I find that answering the door in my strait jacket does the trick..........

Opening a door while wearing a straitjacket is a good trick. Please advise how this is done.

I actually got my voting card today so obviously must start to take this more seriously.
Craft! Nooooooo! It's much funnier when you don't. I can't stop laughing. Haaa!
We printed our own A3 window poster bright pink with black print 'Vote None of the Above..X . it's given the neighbours a laugh at least
Say" I'm voting for you". It has two advantages, it gets rid of them pdq, and it fouls up everyone's stats.
Speaking as someone who does canvass, a simple "I'm not interested" is enough.

If you do ask any questions, I will answer them to the best of my ability (even if there are 25 of them) and if I don't know the answer, I will find out and revert back to them.

I have a similar solution to Androcles but I am using a clipboard and a large pencil to record their answers, also a stop watch so that I can time how long they stay for, which I can then comment on as they leave. Seriously though a list of questions kept by the door that you can ask them might just frighten them into thinking we are actually interested and making notes.
my actual mp came to our door last night
