When they knock on the door say "I'm really glad you've come, I have a load of questions I want to ask about you and your party, and wave your piece of paper about, saying this won't take too long, there's only about 25 of them....... start reading the first one out loud and very slowly.............and watch them flee!

I have a similar solution to Androcles but I am using a clipboard and a large pencil to record their answers, also a stop watch so that I can time how long they stay for, which I can then comment on as they leave. Seriously though a list of questions kept by the door that you can ask them might just frighten them into thinking we are actually interested and making notes.
