I know its a soap...but is this a real reflection of life? when a Muslim has a massive problem because they are Gay?

This subject is being dealt with superbly in Eastenders currently and the two main players Zhaneb and Mashood have been on varying shows today to talk about it.
In their culture the Imam tells them they must choose between their son and their faith, surely there are an equal number of gay people in the Muslim culture?
How can they do this to their kids?
I would be interested for feedback from anyone who lives in a Muslim community...bit heavy I know but I hope it makes a good and not derogatory debate

You spend any time in an Arab state you'll see more examples of blatent homosexuality than a dozen Brighton Prides rolled into one.

When I was in Kuawait we actually 'sold' a blonde haired, blue eyed 18 year old lad to a Saudi sheikh. The lad wasn't happy when he found out we'd agreed to swop him for a Ferrari, and the sheikh wasn't happy when the lad did a runner (minus the Ferrari d'oh)

They have a saying "Boys are for fun, women are for babies", although that seems like an Arabic trait as opposed to a Muslim one

I'd disagree that generally in the UK Christians are on a level playing field with Muslims when it comes to accepting homosexuality. There are pockets of resistance no doubt but overall the Christian church has come some way over the years. How many gay Muslim religious leaders are there?

You are right there bobjugs. The ship I was on at the time in the Persian Gulf discharged some Oil Rig spare parts at Das Island. Some of the ships Crew were offered good money to spend the night with some of the 'Men' for some jiggyjog ! lol
