Should I complain!?

Hey guys,

Now I am not normally one for complaining, in fact I am normally one who says not to, but this time I am thinking maybe I should!

Yesterday as I was leaving work, I pulled up to a roundabout to get on to the one way system near where I work, and a Tesco home delivery van was coming round the roundabout. As he did, the side opened and about 15 crates came out the side of the van and skidded across the road into my car. Luckily they were empty as it could have been alot worse!

The driver stopped, and came back to pick them up, didnt ask if I was Ok or say sorry, even though I was sat in my car pretty shocked. As he was moving them out the way, I leant out and asked if there was any damage to my car (should have checked myself but I was feeling pretty shakey!) to which I got the reply 'Its only some f*****g empty plastic crates and a pack of Fosters!'

I drove off as I was holding up a load of traffic, but then pulled over just down the road as I was shaking like a leaf and pretty upset.

It was just his attitude and the reply I got from him when I asked if there was any damage to my car that really annoyed me!

Bit difficult without his name, reg number and witnesses
What a kn0b.
yes, I would have been better to have the reg number of the van but under the circumstances describing him to the manager so they know who it is will do.
And then hopefully, something may be done about it.
Yes, you should. It could have been a far more serious accident. From his attitude he didn't realise the potential danger he put other drivers in, by not closing his door properly, so he should be told.

I took a mental note of his registration, but by the time I got down the road and pulled over I was in tears and shaking (i was not have a good day to start with!) and had forgotten the reg number :-(

My OH says they should have it tracked somehow as he was obviously out doing deliveries.
id complain in the strongest possible terms wiggal.......
There could have been glass and all sorts in those crates that could have gone flying, what if you'd had your window down and shards of glass were flying towards you?
yes, definately copmplain.
If the police had been present he, and possibly tesco, could have been charged with carrying an unsafe load etc.
i dont think you should think about the "what ifs". what happened was obviously frightening enough.

I did think about the what ifs last night, but your right red, it scared the crap out of me!
I'm lucky as it is that there was no damage to my car as the crates skidded in to my wheel and drivers side door.
Definitely wiggal. Write to this man, stating what happened, where you were and what time of day it was. They will be able to trace the driver, this man will make sure they do. Tesco have become arrogant and complacent as far as I'm concrened and they need a kick up the harris!

How are you feeling today wiggal?
call tesco customer service http://www.tesco.com/help/contactus/ and request the number for the transport manager
I wouldnt bother with anyone but transport to be honest as their customer service department is pretty useless in my experience

Thanks for that mazie. I have looked on the site for a number to call, but strangely they don't have a number to dial for complaints of any kind!

I'm feeling pretty eugh today, but that is also partly down to being my last day at work as I get made redundant today!
wiggal go straight to the top write to Tony Leahy. I've had reason to make a complaint in the past and to be honest their response was very off hand and couldn't care less. Start at the top, thats my advice
I would complain all the same even if you cannot name names!

What an elbow!

Poor you I hope you feel better today - I'd complain if i were you because I think of it this way, if you were a man, he most certainly wouldn't have spoken to you like that, but that's not the point. He was wrong in every possible way and should be reprimanded at least, because the next time it could be a whole load of stuff and a serious accident caused,

I will write a letter as well mazie, but have just called up and spoken to the team leader of the home delivery service at the local store who was very nice and helpful. When I told him he said it was completely unacceptable, and from what I could tell him of the reg he knows which van it was. He has said he will track who the driver is, investigate it and call me back to let me know how it is being dealt with.
It could have been so much worse. You were very lucky they were empty crates. keep pushing it and don't let them forget about it! You deserve an apology at least. I would have got out of my car and had him I think =)
