Family History Research in USA
I had a great uncle who emigrated to the US in the early part of the 1900's, married and had children. How can I trace details of his marriage, birth of children etc. I have a few details but do not know how to start the search. I know he helped build a church and lived in New York. Any help appreciated. Can I trace anything on the net, have all the ellis island details.

try http://www.telusplane.../public/mtoll/bdm.htm it's a site which has links to free research sources for the US. NY's records are pretty extensive, so you've got a good chance of finding him. Good luck!
Many thanks for the help. Dot the details I have a sketchy the person is Edward Tuddenham age 19 on entry to USA in 1909, lived in New York ,I believe he married a Martha Swabb (not sure of the spelling) had two children one of each, when he died (year unknown) the children were allegedly sent to live with a wealthy widow he gardened for (this is family folklore).
Any leads you could find would be great.
