Caught a bit of his show on T.V last night before I fell asleep, has anyone else noticed his nervous tic?
Whenever someone speaks to him about tarot etc, his eyes start to twitch and he blinks excessively.
It's not a serious question, I just thought it was funny.

Especially if you are just going to laugh at him.

That the best you can do when confronted with intelligent rationality Everton? Shame you didn't have the sense to stay awake. You might have learnt something worthwhile.

I imagine it's psychosomatic...ie Dawkins' rational brain is saying, "I can hardly bring myself even to LOOK at this idiot, spouting such nonsense, never mind listen to him." His body responds by repeatedly shutting his eyes so that he, in effect, DOESN'T see him.
could be qm.

i noticed some twerp wittering on about ancient aliens doing the same thing on a programme not long back. perhaps it is this inner disbelief that causes this reaction, a sort of, "i really can't believe this sh.....
I think I'd develop a similar twitch in such situations everton! ;0)

It always amuses me how affronted atheists get when they feel their icons are being jibed at.
I think QM has it pretty much right, you could almost see his brain about to explode at the notions that confronted it.
Dawkins sees the world his way, others see the world theirs, his problem with this is his alone.
I actually agreed with what he was saying, pyschics and tarot etc, but so what?
I know loads of these new world types, some are bit dull (mainly pagans who go on about it) but they're all quite nice people.
Dawkins, in his own way unintentionally hit upon it, "positive affirmation" he called, and that's why they're happy they have something in their life that affirms them and makes them positive, where's the harm in that?
I'd much sooner spend an evening with them, than some of the po faced atheists on here.
As for the tic, it's only when someone is saying something he maifestly detests or disagrees with that it materialises, so I'm not laughing at people with tics, more his uptight nature.
I don't think anyone's affronted Everton - just disgusted by your mentality perhaps.

LOL.
I find his programmes extremely interesting. The eyes - and false smile - that I found very scary last week belonged to that US Christian preacher who just would not countenance that he might be wrong... gee, he was scary.
What do you expect Everton. You dare not say anything about Richard Dawkins. Few people respect and believe in him blindly. Although when I say blindly that may sound like faith but it has nothing to do with that. Perhaps?
I suspect Quizmonster is right, it's the response of someone who can't believe anyone is disagreeing with him. I suppose it's better than frothing at the mouth - you'd never get a second series if you did that.
I suspect Quizmonster is right too - although since Richard Dawkins knows full well that the people he's interviewing have an opposing viewpoint it's not because he can't believe that anyone is disagreeing with him as jno suggests. It's more likely to be caused by the restraint he puts on his automatic human instinct to argue his point.

Keyplus, although Richard Dawkins is highly respected, and deservedly so, I don't believe him blindly and I don't know anyone who does. I think you're confusing people's respect for an intelligent man with your blind adherence to every word of your religion - and that's a big mistake.
