Pretty Church/Chapel?

I am attempting to plan a wedding and have been trying to find a pretty church anywhere in the uk and scotland. But googling is not proving fruitful. It would be nice if it was surrounded by trees/blossoms etc... I seem to keep coming up with hotels/mansions etc which are nice but not exactly what I am after

Do you have a beautiful or unusual church/chapel/building near you or that you have seen?

Just somewhere nice.

the church has a bell tower that is away from the building. It has a lot of historical association. No hotel nearby but there is the Castaways restaurant in the harbour/marina next door (Mylor is technically the oldest naval port still in existence, though leased out). Other options are the Pandora pub (also beautiful and thatched - 13 or 14thc) or head into Falmouth - many weddings go by boat

You do realise that many ministers will insist on your attending their church regularly and/or becoming a member of their church in order to be able to marry there?

There's a really little pretty little place near us whose parish has now become largely devoid of residents. The original village is lost and the adjacent hall and grounds is now an agricultural college. The minister is nevertheless quite strict and the only weddings at his church are those of staff, students and the few 'non-college' families who live within the parish boundary.

However, if you're interested, the hall - Brooksby Hall - is a licensed wedding venue and has conference/banqueting facilities and is fully geared up for weddings. It is VERY pretty. Link here: http://www.brooksbyhall.co.uk/

in Scotland there's a lovely small church just outside N Berwick with the sea behind it - where they filmed the boy kicking the football on the Sabbath in Chariots of Fire.....Its Presbyterian I believe

I have a place in scotland lined up but I want to keep my options open. As for the religious side, if I had my way id be marrying outside as I am totally non religious but the UK as far as I am aware does not consider this a legal marriage. I am sure a lot of churches will marry you as long as you are serious considering they charge what ever they like for the 'service'. The church/building does not have to be in use. The place I have lined up in scotland is not longer in use but is still very pretty.

It's a very nice church with superb views ... but I don't think you are allowed to drive up to it, and walking boots with a wedding dress might not be for you :-)

But at least the guests would get some exercise and fresh air to whet their appetites for the reception afterwards

If you are a churchgoer. why don't you get married in your own church? If you aren't, then why get married in church?

That's why we didn't, woofgang - we have people of several creeds in our family and friends, the Guildhall venue was brilliant for all of us.
