I'm going to Cambridge next Saturday for a look around with a friend(s), can anyone suggest what we can do in Cambridge that's not too expensive, we are mature 20 year olds

hm very clever, particularly that it is done mechanically even though it looks quite "digital"
Many people would say that the Fitzwilliam is the jewel in Cambridge's crown:

Otherwise the open-air market is well worth a look round. (Think quality, rather than economy though!).

If the weather is fine you might want to take the open-top bus tour. (They run every 40 minutes in the winter months). But at £13 per ticket they're not cheap!

The open top bus is a nice idea but yes, pricey
You have to do a punt trip. I expect it's pricey, but if you can it's worth it.
The Henry VIII King's Chapel.....
Most (if not all) of the punts are unavailable during the winter months. See my post here:

Ok, I didn't know that Chris. Useless bunch of punts eh?
We are going there too, same day. I have just been looking here

It is worth paying for a guided tour. If you go to the Tourist office, they are not very expensive. Otherwise, go to your local library and take out a guide book. My personal favourite is the Kings college chapel. Enjoy!
oops, I see Chris has already given that link.
Fitzwilliam Museum (free) and the Botanic Gardens (£4).

Then eat at Browns or afternoon tea at Fitzbillies.

However bear in mind that term starts next week so all the students will be going back on Saturday and Sunday so the place will be hectic and the car parks (even) fuller than usual.
Kettle's Yard and the Folk Museum - may sound boring but they're not! And use the park and ride.
