The state of the UK today

A country without any standards of what we once described as decency.
We have become a selfish, greedy, visionless, small minded, unpleasant, lawless, godless and anti social, sexually promiscuous and booze ridden, illiterate litle nation, ruled from Brussels, without backbone, moral integrity and any sense of respect; drowning in a sea of mass immigration we have lost all sense of national identity and pride.
I see the recent expenses scandal to be symptomatic of the corruption and scandal that I believe is endemic in our national and local political public life
We like to pose and posture on the world stage but in reality we are a third world non entity and like the king that had no clothes on, we don't know it.
The sum total of our aspirations can be summed up in our obsession with the superficial and trivial like football, footballers, the X Factor and which minor celebrity is bonking who.
Not written by me but summed up quite nicely and I agree with all the sentiments 100%.

The dustbin situation is chaotic and appalling......here, Menorca,O.K if is a small island, the bins are emptied every day.....in the UK, ,my contacts tell me that they may be emptied once a fortnight and only then with a list of requirements which need to be addressed before the binmen will collect them.
Wherever you live there are pluses and minuses.

I blame evolution.........however from a person standpoint, I am not illiterate, lawless, godless, anti-social, a bit of sexual promiscuity would be nice (admittedly), my finances do not allow me to be booze ridden, football is ok but I'm not obsessed with footballers or the x factor and I couldn't care less about "celebrities". I grew wise to the activities of politicians along time ago although I do feel that it is wrong to tar all politicians with the same brush.
The National Front was founded in 1967, so did not exist for most of the 1960s, contrary to what DTCrosswordfan suggests.
The main reasons the country is in a state of disrepair are:
1. Much of the work needed (road repairs etc.) is under the control of local authorities. Very little that local authorities have control of is done efficiently (if at all).
2. Most importantly more than a third of the nation's tax revenue is spent on people who make no contribution to that revenue whatsoever. (33.8% of the current budget is earmarked for Social Security).

well if you are going to be pedantic, New Judge, there was a BNP before 1967 from 1960 and then there was the National Labour Party and the White Defence League before that along with two political splinter groups from the League of Empire Loyalists pressure group........there has always been some sh-t (sorry brown) shirts organisation around since WW2 and before WW2 as most folk know - Mr Moseley et al.....
