Oh yes, of course!
don't be ridiculous.

it was 5,737 years ago.
Was it as long ago as that? And here's me thinking it was but yesterday!
I totally believe that the earth was created just before the iron age. I hope that if god does exist, he looks like the moon from the Mighty Boosh.
Oh. I meant bronze age.
How about chocolate age - that would be even better.
IKEA (the God of self assembly) sells a 'Create Your Own Planet' kit...
I have a lump of rock in my possession that has been carbon dated at around 150 million years old from the Kimberly region of Western Australia, so I would say that is a tad older than 6000 yrs. So to answer your question Naomi , in one word ,no.
Every instant it is all created anew. That is how movement appears to be possible.
That`s a new slant on it OG haven`t come across that one before , may be the basis for a new religion
I sincerely believe that it was created by god 5,874 years ago, and I can explain exactly why, but not now, if they catch me at the computer they will make me wear the horrible jacket again.
Ah, old nitro, you only think that your rock is that old - according to Philip Gosse (19th century) who claimed that the earth was created in six days about 6000 years ago, complete with built-in features to make it look older. There were strata with all the right fossils in them, fully grown trees with the right number of year-rings, gorges supposedly cut out by glaciers, mountains of limestone from marine life that never existed, navels for Adam and Eve and so on. He wrote it all in a book called Omphalos and expected to become celebrated. He was very hurt when all the world did was laugh.

The weird thing about this potty idea is that there is no way that science can ever refute it. No matter how old something is found to be by the scientific method, Gosse would say "Yes of course, God made it look that way!"
OK for the fun of it lets say I believe this

I very much doubt your rock has been carbon dated to 150 million years old

1/ Carbon dating is only applicable to living or once living objects as they have to have taken up carbon from the atmosphere

2/ Carbon dating can only be used to date up to about 60,000 years ago or so

Now If I believed this young Earth I might argue that carbon dating is wrong and unreliable because you are assuming the rate of radioactive decay was the same in the past as it is now and you don't know this.

What other evidence have you got?
it may well be 150 million years old (honest guv, bloke in the pub said so) but the age wouldn't be determined through carbon dating.
I entertain the possibility...It could have been. I do not know.
Dr Kurt Wise, a big influence in my life, has shown me that this is scientifically a credible position.
No, I don't believe the earth was created 6000 years ago.

The Bible simply states “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Ge 1:1) Just how long ago the starry heavens and the earth were created is not stated. Therefore, there is no basis for Bible scholars to take issue with scientific calculations of the age of the planet. Scientists estimate the age of some rocks as being three and a half billion years, and the earth itself as being about four to four and a half billion or more years.

With regard to the six creative days of the Genesis account. these days refer. not to the creation of earth, but with the arranging and preparing of it for man to live on it.
Loved the bit where a bishop who was against Darwin went round saying that the Devil put the fossils into rocks to deceive geologists.

What is frightening though is how many creationists there are in the States, sometimes in quite influential positions.
Sarah Palin - That republican governor from Texas and a couple of others.
How about some radiometric dating?

If radiometric dating's not appropriate or possible, but we know from where the rock originated, how about the rock's relative position to others, either by biostratigraphy or geochronology?

Maybe we could use magnetostratigraphy or luminescence.
It was created by God, yes but not 6000 years ago.
