An Island Parish ..... what a lovely series
10 Answers
Anyone else watch this gentle little "soap" of real life in the Outer Hebrides? We love it! We missed the episode this week, don't like watching on "catch up" but wanted to catch the repeat which is usually on one evening later in the week after midnight but can't see it listed - why?

Love Father John Paul, and am sad Father Roddy has had to leave, it was sad to see him struggling with his emotions at his leaving service. I watched it this week but OH missed it..........
I liked the other series especially the Scilly Isles but although I liked Father Roddy, I'm not too keen on Father John Paul. He has no personality and seems to do very little. He barely did anything in his first year! The people on Barra and the other islands are nice but they should have kept Father Roddy and got rid of the lazy Father JP!
He was only new, quizzy, and learning the job, so feeling his feet so to speak, trying to get to know the people slowly. Father Roddy will be a hard act to follow, but he had been there for many years. Its the same with any church minister, its hard to be compared to the previous one (unless they were rubbish!) Give him time ........

The people of the island had no say in this decision whatsoever, it was the "powers that be" on the mainland who moved him on (apparently against his wishes too) but they said in the programme that is the price they have to pay for being in the priesthood.
