To be a nun you are supposed to giveup so many things in your life. Most importantly you can't marry as you are supposed to be married to god. And that is completely against human rights as getting married, giving love and getting love and having children is one of the main basic right of any human. Therefore Islam is against it.

Keyplus, //What religion will ask (or let) someone to make a choice to give up the most basic things in his/her life?//
Religion doesn’t ‘ask’ it, but if a woman chooses it, why shouldn’t she be able to make that free choice? Why should religion (or anything else) dictate her path in life? It’s her life.
Nannyboody, Oh, I see. Personally, I don’t think they’re missing out in that respect, but I thought you meant living in a convent was something to aspire to. :o)
