As others have already said, Hell doesn't exist. All rational people know this. What is interesting though is why the theists think that it is real and necessary. I wonder what leads people to believe in a literal hell where people, or more accurately people's souls, are punished for all eternity? What is the point of such a place where redemption is impossible and admittance to it can be for crimes as trivial as blasphemy and apostasy and as serious as mass murder?
The only reason I can see for the literal existence of hell is to terrify theists into not breaking the laws of their religion. But can one be said to be truly good and moral if the only reason for being so is the terror of eternal torture in hell? The fact that so many atheists live their lives without committing acts such as burglary, assaults, rapes, murders, etc. clearly demonstrates that hell is an unnecessary tool with which to keep people on the straight and narrow.
Birdie, I would struggle greatly to diasagree with any of this but, on a much simpler level, do theists not need Hell to explain and solutionise the inexplicable?
