A licence for savagery? Even politicians talking about it is a death sentence.
They wanted to Burn an 11 year old mentally deficient child for "Blasphemy", it's not even clear what she did. Her parents fear for their lives. How can a state not deal with this horror?

Their minister for minorities was murdered last year just for criticising this law. Can't see much changing there.
It's quite simple really. "God is great", nothing more to be said.

Lunatics.
i agree its crazy..... but i dont think it is in Quran and Hadith douglas, its part of sharia law ...which is obviously man made, it varies from country to country and different schools of thought..... not that im trying to excuse it but i dont think its obligatory in Islam to burn blasphemers..... thats a persons view of what should happen...
IN the 16th Century in England if you pointed someone out as a witch they would be in a lot of trouble. In the 1950s in the USA if you accused someone of being 'a Red' they were in trouble.
I think today some of the people of Pakistan have discovered that accusing someone of blasphemy is a great way of settling old scores.
i was gonna point out the witch thingy sandy but a lot of the time it seems making similarities isnt playing the erm white man as they say
The whole Pakistani system needs overhauling. I read that the girl has Downs Syndrome, but whatever, a young mentally retarded person should be given the benefit of clemency. I suspect it is because she is Christian that these animals are up in arms.
Fair comment sandy and pdust, with the sadly added emphasis on man
Even when someone disrespects the Koran outside of the middle East, one can expect an uproar. It is a beastly and depressing religion.

so too if a muslim burns a poppy or an american flag. Than everyone else goes out in uproar.

The way i see it is, yes, what they did in Pakistan is and was wrong, however compared to countries like the UK and USA Pakistan is fairly new, having only been formed in the 60s. I think, that over time, hopefully they will learn to deal with this more appropriately. However that being said this is a newspaper report. Its reporting something. That does not mean it happens there all the time, does it? Also it is not like Christians or other religions have been totally kind to muslims all the time. They all have done things to other religions.
And yet Islamic countries want to spread Shari'a law throughout the arab world (and the UK if they could) - beggars belief.
watched this on news last night, one wonders at people who can do this, well not wonder really, haven't we seen this before..
Sandy, not sure how you settle old scores against a mentally impaired 11 year old,
I think Muslims should allow their "almighty" God to deal with these matters in his own way! maybe send a bolt of lightning or a disease or even a flood.

Why is it they have this need to kill and maim so many, do they really think that their god is so vain and incapable. Well of course he is totally incapable as he does not even exist!

Pathetic nonsense!!!

They will kill her I expect! SAVAGES!!!
Pakistan was formed in 1947. google India Independance, for a lightbulb moment
I think the society and it's customs spreceded inependance.
read lightbulb for sith, or so Naomi thinks, where are you this bright morning, m'lady..
The family of this young girl will probably have to leave the area. Whatever they had, in the way of land or a house, will be up for grabs. A grudge against the family could easily be settled by accusing a child of blasphemy.
Pakistan, the country, may be just about the age I am, but their society has been there for thousands of years. You'd think a more humane ethos might have developed.
Your witchhunt analogy is correct sandy. Cynical manipulation of ignorant peasants with religion as the convenient tool.
Question Author
Pakistan my have formed recently but Islam has been about since the 6th century, you'd have thought they'd have got past this phase. Yes Sandy we did have the witchfinder general stage in England, are you saying that Pakistan/Islam are 400+ years adrift on civilisation?
