Had a super weekend. When I go anywhere I smile at and chat to anyone within a yard of me....bit like the village idiot on speed. London was just the same when I arrived. Everyone happy and in Olympic mood and so friendly. I had so many chats!
The play was great and the cricket even better. No big hitting which I love but steady and a great result. Lovely cricketers and fun fans!
But how was this? I stayed in a hotel in Camberwell which had Roman Catholicism/Day of the Dead as a theme. The taxi driver couldn`t find it so...he turned off his meter and drove around til he did. Generous or what!!!
Then D3 who was staying with friends joined me for breakfast and because we were all getting on so well ( I did try to fit her up with the guy on reception) they refused to add her breakfast to my bill...on the house! How nice...a super taxi driver and a great hotel!
So I'm loving Olympic London........nice if it continued.
Are you still in London then, gness.....? Glad to hear that you have had a good weekend......enjoy the Paraolympics - do we get to see you in the main stadium on Tuesday?
Hi guys. Back home til Tues when It's Paralympics. I`ll wave DT.
The two guys who accidentally sat on my lap do now Parkdale. Oh really Mother!! is still ringing in my ears.
Had dinner with D3, her best friend and her Ma who is the Jewish version of me. A fun night and two daughters raising eyebrows. How we both ended up with such sensible daughters is beyond us.
Going to say night from here - for some reason, knackered tonight. Posted an old drawing on Arts and the Good Morning thread this morning (theyare the same, gness). Night all.
Thank you. I just loved all the friendliness as soon as I arrived. The train on the way home was busy with Olympic goers or beeners? and watching the kids with their flags and chatting about what they`d seen was nice.
Hi Em...I go to London quite often and the difference at the weekend was so nice...except for the taxi drivers! They will be happy when it`s back to normal.
Don't think I could live there because I like quiet but when I visit I love the theatres, restaurants and just people watching. Walking around Camberwell on my own at midnight was fascinating.
