What does God do?

God doesn't DO anything, God is a ubiquitous feature of the universe.
When I was a child I was taught the Sarum Primer;
God be in my head / And in my understanding / God be in mine eyes / And in my looking / God be in my mouth / And in my speaking / God be in my heart / And in my thinking / God be at my end / And at my departing.
Buddhism similarly teaches for moral guidance; 'The Eightfold Path' (leaving out the concept of God, though not refuting the existence); Right understanding / Right thought / Right speech / Right action / Right livelihood / Right effort / Right mindfulness / and, Right concentration.
I am not sure what presently we in the West are teaching our children.

No, I do not believe stories about religion are equivalent to fairy stories. Stories of a supernatural monster that takes an unhealthy personal interest in the lives of every insignificant, self-obsessed human being inhabiting this minute speck of dust we call home are far more damaging than any fairy story.
