Whats the meaning of God's Silence ....

Seriously, it isn't that he's silent but rather many don't care to listen. I discussed his direct intervention in our affairs here.

The still small voice is something that is not always recognised especially since the answer to our desperate plea can be no. I have experienced this over many difficult years of hoping and praying. Much later I realise that my much longed for answer would have been wrong. I have heard this still small voice but it is not necessarily an audible voice. I once caught it in a song that was on the radio. Thr words "reached out" of the airwaves and struck me so clearly that I tried to hunt down the record but never found it. At that time the words were something like this "I have no other hands but yours" through which to work.
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life
When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord,
That if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
There have only been one set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."

Given the powers that those of faith invest in their god, these arguments are just rationalisations to explain the simple fact - no god, no voice.
If you hear a still, small voice, thats you that is. Its your conscience. Its when the voice starts shouting that you need to worry.
Were there a god, logic would suggest that if he wanted to communicate with his/her creations, he/she would have put in the equipment to do so. And he/she would speak more clearly, to more people.
We see this all the time. Rationalisation to support a hypothesis unsupported by evidence - fuelled by faith alone.

If your faith sustains you, then fine, I have no problem with that. And if some prose helps you - even if it does seem to suggest a rather patronising attitude by god - then thats great too.
Just do not cite it as proof of god.
Recognise reality - recognise the bible for what it is, rather than invest in it as some kind of evidence or truth of the existence of god - it isn't. The same applies for the Koran.
Just don't preach. Don't evangelise. Don't deny reality or reject the science because it contradicts your faith. Don't hide your kids away from the truth of how the world works, because you are frightened it might weaken their faith.Don't attempt to make society conform to your ideas or morality, rather than you adapting to changes in culture.
Then we can all be happy - until the world ends on 21 December 2012 and the JWs get raptured anyway :)

plautus, //Sorry, you were obviously there at the time.//
No need to apologise. There wasn't a 'time'. The poem isn't true. It's just a poem.
baza, //If the poem helps somebody in a difficult time in their life, where's the harm? //
If it helps someone at a difficult time, there is no harm. The harm comes when stuff like this is used as a tool to provoke unnecessary emotion in vulnerable human beings.
