Found a brill weight loss app
20 Answers
I found an app called My Fitness Pal and thought I'd share it with you.
It's basically a calorie counter. When you first install it you enter your vital stats then your goals and it calculates the amount of calories you should aim to eat each day to reach that goal. Then ever day you enter everything you eat and drink and it adds up all the calories in a little daily diary.
The best thing is that it has sooooo many foods pre-listed so you don't have to work out the calories and a barcode scanner so you can scan a packet and it brings up all the info for it.
You can also record your exercise and it works out how many calories you will work off.
I've been using it for the past 5 days and although it sounds silly, it makes it so much easier to see how much you're eating.
Does anyone else use it?

I've found it is a really good way to lose weight as long as you log all exercise and all food and drink. Have lost 8lbs so far in less than a month :)

Wow, well done Daffy! It's easier when you can see it all down in print isn't it.
I think I've lost about 2lbs so far. But I guessed my weight when I first started it and later discovered I was about 2lbs heavier than I thought I was. Lol.
I entered in the app that I wanted to aim for 2lbs a week so it said I need to try and eat 1200 calories a day but it also tells you when you're not eating enough, etc.

I'm on 1100 calories a day but can eat more depending on the exercise I do. I use my exercise bike at a rate of 24 kmh for between 30-90 minutes per day which burns 240 kcal- 720 kcal, I can then add those calories to my daily intake if I wish. No food is banned as long as you don't go over your daily calorie allowance.

I used to use Myfitness Pal and was on and off for a couple of years.
Its still somewhere I go when I need a bit of discipline or to keep a food diary again, but when I used it regularly I found the constant recording of everything I ate made me think about food all of the time. I was often using up every last calorie allowed in a day and looking for ways to allow myself a piece of chocolate/cake etc.
We're all different, but I actually lost weight more successfully once I stopped counting calories and changed my diet altogether. No cake, chocolate, cheese, pastry, fat; very little bread but plenty of fruit and veg.
Good luck Evian I hope you lose whichever way you do it!
