Yes, there are numerous gods from which may choose In the western hemisphere however the Roman, Greek and Norse gods are represented as man-like (or woman-like), as is the Christian god. It would be very difficult to believe in an elephant-god. No, no, man is a gentleman; he reciprocates in kind.

Muslims however don't have images of their God at all. And the earlliest gods - earth, air, water spirits etc - were apparently perceived as being immanent in places but not as having human, or any, form. The Christian God seems to have started out as two different ones - a war god on the one hand, a creator of the garden of eden on the other, and these became merged, as many Greek/Roman gods did.

There's a lot of human input in the way they're presented but that's probably a natural outcome of our desire to envisage ideas in terms we are familiar with. Interesting that primitive men seemed not to have to do this.

This seems to have been taken a little off-track in that, as far as I am aware, none of the Hindu gods are reputed to have made man in their image – and since that is the subject of the question, back to the subject.

The God of Abraham, he who reputedly made man in his image, appears to have been possessed of the very worst of human characteristics. He was exceedingly cruel and exceedingly arrogant – and if we are to believe what is written, he freely admitted to jealously – in fact ‘Jealous’, he claimed, was his name. The old texts were constructed by men, and have been used and abused ever since by men bent on effectively controlling the masses through fear – so, yes, the God we see lauded today was manufactured in man’s image – and the ploy, unfortunately, is still working.

jno, true, Hindu beliefs are wide and varied, but legend has it that his body split into two to create male and female, and some say into four to include the creation of heaven and earth too, so his ‘achievements’ are difficult to pin down precisely. However, unlike the God who is clearly the subject of the question, there is no suggestion that he created ‘man in his own image’.

James, the writer of the book of the same name, was actually the half brother of Jesus.
As to knowing the thoughts of the demons, the author being Jehovah God he would certainly know the thoughts - Just as he knows your thoughts and the inclinations of your heart.
Before you say it - the author and the writer can be different. Many authors dictate their work into a dictaphone which is then written or typed out by someone else.
Jehovah by means of his holy spirit, puts his thoughts into the minds and hearts of the writer.
