Here's a quote from a religious leader on the rape and murder of a 23yo woman...
"This tragedy would not have happened if she had chanted God's name and fallen at the feet of the attackers. The error was not committed by just one side,"

Is it not time that the branches of religions that support this type of krap are discouraged from operating in Western worlds? We can't do much in the Middle East except support the opponents to this ludicrous practice.?

You assert "No, Since it is widely accepted that humans descended from beasts, it is not surprising that more and more people act like beasts."
It is absurd to even attempt to suggest that morality and ethical behaviour, largley constructs created by man, the only species to date demonstrably able to use abstract thought to recognise such concepts as morality and ethics, is somehow bestial because you misunderstand evolution.
Moreover, and more importantly, you do not believe this. You reject evolution, even though what you think of as evolution is actually a false creationist view of it.
You believe, along with the other fundamentalist evangelicals that regularly post on this site, that humanity is gods creation. Therefore, by your own twisted "logic", the reason man is all gods fault - an indifferent and amoral creator!
And anyway your assertion that "more and more people act like beasts" is just plain wrong and lacking any evidence. For every bestial act witnessed around the globe, you could find 100 acts of kindness, charity or empathy which are simply unreported since they are not considered newsworthy.
Your pessimism and lack of faith in humanity is one of the more distasteful elements of your posts, goodlife.

Doh! My spelling and grammar is seriously bad this morning. Must remember to drink more coffee before posting! :)
In my post above, the following sentence
"Therefore, by your own twisted "logic", the reason man is all gods fault - an indifferent and amoral creator!"
Should read
"Therefore, by your own twisted "logic", the reason man acts so bestially is all gods fault - an indifferent and amoral creator!"
@Jno - thats for the clarification. You are of course correct - Those of us who favour free speech should not be attempting to stifle commentary with which we disagree, no matter how offensive, distasteful or just plain stupid. We are entitled however to challenge such expressed views as trenchantly as we desire, and equally are fully entitled to call on the person that expressed such views, someone with alleged sway of followers, to repudiate such comments....

If I have a choice then I will let someone rape him or someone from his family and then ask them to act upon his advice. However where I do not like people like him, my own religion does not allow thinking or wishing something as bad as rape to anyone. So what I will do then? I will ignore his statement as his ill and obscene personal view until I see that someone in the authority (judge etc) who could decide what to do and what not to do with the rapists would listen to him.
South Africa’s news on Rape Victims
“Each year, 1 million rapes are committed in South Africa,” states World Press Review. This means that a rape is committed about every 30 seconds. The article notes that “South Africa has the world’s highest number of rapes that end with murder.” The number is 12 times higher than that for the United States, which is next on the list, although South Africa has a population of only 40 million. The article adds: “In other countries, people may rape you, rob you, or kill you. But in South Africa people will rape you before they kill you, almost just because you happen to be there. Rape occurs almost automatically in connection with other criminal acts.” Also, “rape has become a part of the initiation rites for new gang members,” who then go on to kill their victims. Among the contributing factors cited in the article are the high level of child abuse and the prevailing idea that life is cheap. Additionally, a 1998 Johannesburg survey “revealed that young men believed that women in fact enjoyed being raped but were hiding it, and that if you take a girl out, you have a right to demand sex,”
On the average, about every second, And many places around the world no one feels safe on the streets, even during the daytime. At night some people stay in their homes behind locked and barricaded doors, afraid to go outside.
Throughout history there seems to have been no limit to the injustice and pain that men and women have been willing to inflict on one another. (Ecclesiastes 4:1-3)
Yes you may wonder what reason a loving, all-powerful God could possibly have for permitting human suffering. Finding a satisfying and truthful answer to this puzzling question is vital for your peace of mind and your relationship with God.
The Bible provides such an answer. But what I see because atheism and agnosticism is widely accepted and that humans descended from beasts, it is not surprising that more and more people act like beasts..

I must have missed the bit where you proved that the perpetrators of those appalling acts were either atheists or influenced by atheism.
I would also note that it is an established fact that atheists are under-represented in prison populations in the USA (about 0.1% of the total). Now, it would be wrong to claim that there is definitely a causal relationship for this correllation, but it doesn't appear to provide any strong support your claim.
In the UK, less than 1% of prisoners are self-described atheists.
I can't find any stats for South Africa's prison population, but the CIA World Factbook reckons about 15% of the population have 'no religion'.
Are you able to support your claim with any facts, or have you just pulled it from somewhere we can't mention?

LazyGun, yes, that's fine. I'm just not sure what the OP is calling for here.
"Is it not time that the branches of religions that support this type of krap are discouraged from operating in Western worlds?"
Apart from the question of whether the guru is in the western world, how exactly is he to be discouraged? Can you silence him without denying him freedom of speech?

goodlife, of all the idiotic things you have said on this site, your contribution this time is not only beyond belief but beyond the normal standards of social intercourse. The fact that you are so ignorant as to reject evolution is one thing; offering you the overwhelming evidence for it would be a waste of time. As for pointing out that Man IS a beast : one of the 5 Great African Apes, well.. you simply would not understand. And that's fair enough. To remain ignorant is your choice.
But to suggest that we atheists are somehow responsible for the appalling treatment of women (and others) by demented religious fanatics, and for other unspeakable crimes, is deeply insulting.
I think you owe us an apology.

goodlife is still making this stupid correlation between the rise the atheism, agnosticism, and the supposed equivalent rise in evil or amoral acts. He "proves" this by saying that this is due to most people believing in evolution and the fact that we descended from animals, so in consequence we are acting bestially.
This is patently the most pathetic attempt at a correlation I have ever seen.
