I read somewhere about a pagan prisoner requesting Carrot Cake or Snow cake in accordance with his belief
That said - what would be a good cake to give a pagan with a May birthday

Many thanks

Well, you've missed "Feast Of The Larvae" - so you probably shouldn't make a maggot cake.

Actually about ghosts: http://pagancalendar.co.uk/event.php?zodiac=astrological&getdate=20130517&tz=Europe/London&id=1043

"In Roman mythology, the larvae or lemures were the spectres or spirits of the dead; they were the malignant version of the lares. Some Roman writers describe lemures as the common name for all the spirits of the dead, and divide them into two classes: the lares, or the benevolent souls of the family, which haunted and guarded the domus or household, and the larvae, or the restless and fearful souls of wicked men. But the more common idea was that the Lemures and Larvae were the same. They were said to wander about at night and to torment and frighten the living."

You could make a cake that keeps someone up at night?
BELTANE CAKE

But I would make a saffron cake. Ice it with pale yellow icing and decorate with crystallized violets and daisies made with white fondant icing. Beltane is all about renewal, fertility and the awakening of Nature.
Bit of a specialism! I can't say, but this site seems to have some useful recipes with great names.

I do indeed Octavius ;-))
Actually having read the recipe in my link for the yule rum cake, as it calls for a "babblesppon of brown sugar or whatever colour you can get" I'm wondering whether the recipe is real or if she (assumption) just got to the rum first and then made the rest up.
I'm hoping rowanwitch sees this, she'll know, and she's a whizz at cake.
Any cake made with a good dose of common sense in it would do.

Pagans !...in the 21st century !...how daft can anybody get ?
