Does Islam Have Anything To Offer The World?

We have been told by a Muslim ABer that the people of Islam are coming to the west, not for a better life, but to show us ‘the way’. Most of the major problems the world is currently experiencing undoubtedly involve Muslim nations, and if that’s ‘the way’ they want to show us, it's not terribly enticing, so just what does Islam have to offer the world? As far as I can see, nothing whatsoever.

Tony, in his case, no, his presence here has nothing to do with the benefits system. Although he says the intention of Muslims in coming to the west is not for a better life, but to show us 'the way', he actually appears to have done very well for himself and his family.

We really do not need to be taught the ways of Islam, The very thought of their teachings of barbarism, paedophilia and torture (and that is just their legal system) fills me with horror and disgust! I find Islam one of the most repulsive and frightening religions, truly repulsive!!

Surely it's no different from the Jehovah's Witnesses etc coming to show us "the way" - I don't like that way, either.

One could argue that Islam in its purest form is about peace and loving your neighbour, but so is Christianity, and none of them seem to practise what they preach.

boxtops, Jehovah's Witnesses, while they are extremely irritating, dont marry children for them to die in childbirth at the age of 12, they dont stone you to death or chop off limbs for breaking their laws. I would rather have JW. any day over Islam.1

People consistently make the mistake of aligning Islam to other religions, but Islam is not simply a religion. It dominates every single aspect of life.

Indeed, ratter - but as ever, doesn't it depend which part of any holy book people look at? The Bible and the Koran both tell believers to honour your parents, love your neighbours, etc. - and smite the unbelievers in defence of your faith. I can only go by the Muslims and Christians (and Jews) I know, who don't go around smiting or trying to convert anyone...

Most religious people cherry pick the bits from their holy book to suit their own views. Thus their religion becomes a reflection of them.
If you are a fanatical bigot you can find support in your bible/koran etc. and if you are a nice old lady working in a charity shop you can find support for your views as well.
