Does Death Scare You?
107 Answers
Does the mystery of death scare you? The fact that at one point it will all go black and you'll never see anyone you love ever again or be able to enjoy the things in life that you love so much?
The more i think about it the more frightened i become as i love life and all in it and to one day have all that is dear to me ripped away and me thrown into the dark abyss or void if you like really scares and saddens me.
How do you deal with the certainty that this will happen to you one day?

I am not happy that I am ill, I hate the fact I am not as fit and able as I should be but have accepted that this is the way it is and there is little I can do about it. I have the love of my children, my grandchildren and my other half so I consider myself quite lucky in many ways :)

There is indeed an afterlife. If we live a life as best we can and do only good we will be truly rewarded, pleased and truly amazed by what we find waiting for us.
All our deceased friends and relatives we will be reunited with.
However those who perpetrate Bad and commit eveil against others will be rewarded with the true justice they deserve.... hell.

I'd like to know how we get on then, Batman, when we have been in previous unstable relationships, violent marriages, and so on - people who have had those experiences don't want to be reunited, that's the last thing they'd want. How do you deal with someone who's had more than one really happy marriage? - which spouse are you reunited with in YOUR future vision?
@ Batman - "There is indeed an afterlife."
You seem very certain of this if you can state it as you do, a factual certainty. What evidence do you have to support an afterlife?
" If we live a life as best we can and do only good we will be truly rewarded, pleased and truly amazed by what we find waiting for us. "
- And who gets to decide? Who decides we have lived life as best we can? Who decides we have done only good?
"All our deceased friends and relatives we will be reunited with. "
-But what if you disliked some of your relatives / friends? Does not liking them mean you do not qualify for this afterlife?
However those who perpetrate Bad and commit eveil against others will be rewarded with the true justice they deserve.... hell.
- Once again - who gets to decide? who serves as judge? Who determines what is evil? And again - you seem very certain that this place - hell- exists- what evidence do you have for this place?
On a side note - I assume you are a fan of Batman, the DC comic hero, judging by your avatar picture - do you think "The Dark Knight" would qualify for your afterlife?

I am afraid of death, but I think that's largely because I'm young (23). I feel like there's a lot I want to learn/experience/do, so at the moment the idea of my own death would feel almost like a kind of irreversible robbery. As I get older, I think my fear of death might decrease.
I also fear the death of people whom I care about- most obviously my parents, but also close friends. I experience a great deal of emotional dependence on these people and am honestly uncertain what I would do without them - though I will have to at some point. That's a thought which does frighten me.
