I've just received another personal invitation to the monthly Theist Meeting despite upsetting most of them last time.
It's entitled ' What Relevance Does the Bible Have in the 21st Century ?

Things like these
Don't plan for the future. (Matthew 6:34)
Don't save money. (Matthew 6:19-20)
Don't become wealthy. (Mark 10:21-25)
Sell everything and give it to the poor. (Luke 12:33)
Don't work to obtain food. (John 6:27)
Don't have sexual urges. (Matthew 5:28)
Make people want to persecute you. (Matthew 5:11)
Let everyone know you are better than the rest. (Matthew 5:13-16)
If someone steals from you, don't try to get it back. (Luke 6:30)
If someone hits you, invite them to do it again. (Matthew 5:39)
If you lose a lawsuit, give more than the judgment. (Matthew 5:40)
Before anyone asks I have copied and pasted these from elsewhere just to give a flavour.
Don't know if it's the kind of thing you were looking for.

boxtops // Do you have to go ? // Yes I love being the voice of dissent .
I like being a thorn amongst 30 roses,. The wine, chocolate gateux , strawberries and cream , have some attraction as well.
I find it amazing the way they find love where there is none. God tells Abraham to kill his son and the theists see this as a sign of love. They are not only blind but they actually see the opposite to the facts , which is worse than blindness. Of course they say the same about me.

I like your posts chrisgel it's an approach I shall use but I have found ridicule doesn't really work because they are like goodlife they quote another chapter or verse without answering what you have said.
The point is there are over two billion Abrahamic believers in the world which must have some relevance even in this day and age.
Most of the turmoil in the world is bible based. Rulings by the RC church could make dramatic changes in the field of medicine.

Actually, you probably don't need to read it - just wave it at the JWs and it will work the way garlic works on witches. Or is it evil spirits ?

When I think about it , it's mainly negative . Millions die because of the way
the bible is interpreted. So if that doesn't change then the bible has no relevance. Does anyone in authority look to the bible for guidance . I don't think so and if they did, it would be a bad role model . The churches do a lot of good works but is that changing in this 21st century., probably not. The Quran is based on the OT
