I recorded this and have just watched the last of 5 episodes. Excellent! Did anyone else watch it? For anyone interested, I highly recommend it.

Naomi...missed a couple but the ones I saw were excellent. Just the sort of thing that the BBC does so well. I would gladly pay my licence fee for things like this...and The Archers as well !
i posted about this when it started, watched some, very interesting and very complex subject matter, will probably buy it on dvd to watch at leisure.
I have them all recorded and will get around to watching them all now you have recommended them
Thanknyou
i had called it the History of the Jews in my previous post, incorrect, however the parts i watched were very interesting, i am a big fan of Simon scharma... he is a very good presenter, historian..

During the final episode which dealt with modern day Israel, Simon Scharma said that following World War II, Jews returned to their ancient homeland and bought land and settled, and for one alarming moment I thought he was going to ignore the awful plight of the Palestinians who were forcibly ejected from their property in order to accommodate newly arriving Jews – but he didn’t. He also interviewed a man who felt it was the right of the Jews to seize further territories, enabling them to return to all the lands of the bible, an ambition the presenter wholly disagreed with. Unbiased, brilliantly researched, and superbly presented. You’re right Mikey. When the BBC does it, it does it well. Worth every penny of the licence fee.
his History of Britain was equally brilliant, as said i am a big fan, as a Jew, an intellectual, he obviously can see all sides of the arguments about settlements and the modern day Jews and their story, fine programme will mostly definitely get the dvd.
The Jews returning to Israel was predicted in the Bible.
There are no Arab refugees in Israel, but there were many Jews kicked out of Arab countries after 1948.
There are still Arab refugees in Arab countries, who refuse to assimilate them.
Oh yes, Israel is also a democracy.
Question Author
Theland, I don’t understand why you say there are no Arab refugees in Israel. Why would there be? There are Arabs, but since the land was, and still is, their home, why would they be refugees? Furthermore, I think you will find that although many Jews were indeed evicted from Arab lands, there were also many Zionists who, having a newly formed ‘homeland’ to go to, chose to go. You are right, however, in saying that Palestinian refugees have not been wholeheartedly welcomed in neighbouring Arab countries – and by way of evidence, I’ve seen their cardboard box enclaves.
