naomi; Thank you for bringing us back to order! I liked your first post on Friday, and in my following one I said that I can see indications that there could be some re-alignment between Anglicanism and 'recent' Catholicism, which could be brought about under the leadership of the excellent new Pope Francis, of whom the also excellent president of Uruguay, Jose Mujica in an interview last night on Aljazeera, even though an atheist, poured great praise on him.
(If there is any way you can watch that interview I can recommend it).
It is perhaps too much to hope, but if the denominational divisions within the Christian Church can be removed, a re-invigorated Religion could then begin to reach out and attempt to find common ground with Islam.

Mmm, I see Khandro's going all eclectic on us. One of the many pickles your mate Polkinghorne got himself into, Khandro, was trying to argue along those lines ("the Holy Spirit working in different climes and peoples" or some such) while still trying to maintain that the differences are somehow important. It may be that "in my Father's house are many mansions", but if those mansions contain Jews, Muslims and assorted idolaters it's a bit difficult to reconcile with "I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me". Didn't Akbar the Great try to do something along these lines?

v_e; It is strange how some people search immediately for obstacles to communication towards conciliation instead of of looking for the things that different religions might have in common. The usual procedure is to make a frantic search for a quote which might act as hindrance.
The quote you give (John 14:6) has been translated and interpreted to have many meanings.

Quotes are the very devil aren't they Khandro, sometimes they can seem to mean the opposite to that which was intended depending on the mental baggage being carried.

I think we know precisely what he means, but translate it into Greek then into Latin and back into English we might end up with something open to interpretation. Hang on! I'm going to try it.

So things can be lost or gained in translation? amazing, do you think the christian church is aware of this after all it the bible has gone through more than a few translations, rewrites, editings etc.
I suspect that almost everything Oscar Wilde said had an (intended) alternative meaning.
